Visitors eager to try Upstate SC’s take on pulled pork and brisket won’t be disappointed when they try what we have to offer.  We’ve put together a list of our favorite BBQ joints in Clemson and surrounding areas so you can easily get your hands on finger lickin’ goodness.

Palmetto’s Smokehouse and Oyster Bar

Palmetto’s specializes in many tasty dishes. Some of which include slow smoked meats that are destined to melt in your mouth! BBQ is incorporated in appetizers, lunch, dinner, and even brunch. Some recommended meat dishes are: “the haystack”, pulled pork sandwich (comes with up to two sides), smoked meat sampler, and a “southern egg Benedict.”

The Esso Club

Aside from being a well-known Clemson landmark, the Esso Club has great southern food to offer. A popular BBQ based menu item is “Jeff’s Chopped BBQ Sandwich” that has an option to choose from different BBQ sauces all on a toasted sesame seed bun. Esso is also a great place to visit because the walls are covered in Clemson sports memorabilia from the past!

Sardi’s Den

Right off Old Greenville Highway is a quaint restaurant that serves southern-style cuisines. Their menu lists a many BBQ dishes that are worth trying out. “Noah’s Sliders” is great finger food for game days! They have the option of getting them with either pulled pork or chicken. The pulled pork is also offered as a separate dish with various sides to choose from.

These must-try BBQ joints are a little outside of Tiger Town, but definitely worth a visit.

Gatehouse Restaurant

Located in Pickens, S.C., Gatehouse is an ideal place to go to lunch if you are in the area. They serve a variety of mouthwatering American dishes. Those of which include: pulled pork BBQ sandwich, brisket sandwich, and a slow cooked prime rib sandwich. On top of that, they have a buffet that serves all of these yummy entrees, sides, and desserts!

The Smokin’ Pig

The Smokin’ Pig serves up hearty southern dishes authentic to the Clemson area. With fresh pulled pork and beef brisket served each weekend, it is sure to satisfy your taste buds. On the table you can choose from different flavors of BBQ sauce to enjoy on your meats. With combo dishes, comes homemade sides. Some of the most popular sides are: loaded potato casserole, baked beans, and fried okra. They are only open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays yet they still manage to bring in a crowd!
